Manbug Cobalt Blue FRN, Satin is an extremely compact folder designed by Sal Glesser for complete utility in a minimalist format. While its dimensions suggest a keychain or backup knife, the functionality of this model is on par with many larger EDC designs. Designed to maximize space, the Manbug fits into any pocket or organizer, while retaining all the features of a usable everyday tool. Blade is made from CPM SPY27 steel, the result of a collaboration between Spyderco and Crucible Industries. This material combines high wear resistance, edge durability and excellent corrosion resistance, offering great performance in a lightweight, compact design. The leaf shape profile and full flat grind provide control and precision, regardless of blade size. Handle was created from lightweight and resistant FRN, enriched with Bi-Directional Texturing, which promotes grip stability even in wet conditions. The back lock centrally located on the back allows the blade to be securely locked when opened. The lack of a clip and the completely symmetrical design make the knife easy to carry on a daily basis and make it fully ambidextrous. CPM SPY27 – a proprietary blend of alloys including vanadium, molybdenum, niobium, nitrogen and cobalt. The high-alloy stainless steel contains 1.4% carbon and a 1% admixture of niobium (Nb), one of the best carbides, which contributes to the steel’s wear resistance. Thanks to its properties, the steel holds sharpness for a very long time and guarantees aggressive cuts for a long time. It is easy to sharpen, corrosion resistant and contains a high admixture of 14% chromium. It provides good strength and cutting edge retention, as well as a fine-grained structure. Produced by US Crucible Industries using the particle metallurgy / Crucible® Particle Metallurgy(CPM) method. The CPM process creates a very homogeneous, high quality steel with excellent dimensional stability, grindability and ductility compared to steels produced by conventional methods.
Blade – made of CPM SPY27 steel, which is a proprietary alloy of Spyderco and Crucible. Thanks to the addition of niobium, vanadium, molybdenum and cobalt, this steel is characterized by high abrasion resistance, blade durability and excellent corrosion resistance, making it a suitable choice for everyday tasks in variable conditions. A leaf shape profile is used, which, thanks to its geometry and wide belly, allows the blade to be guided precisely through the material, even with limited blade length. The full flat grind improves cutting efficiency, while the satin finish reduces glare and masks minor signs of use. The classic Spyderhole allows the blade to be opened conveniently with one hand, despite the small size of the design. Despite its compact size, the Manbuga Blade offers full functionality and precision in use, meeting the needs of people who appreciate discreet but efficient EDC tools.
Handle – made of FRN (FiberglassReinforcedNylon) – a material with high mechanical strength and resistance to moisture, corrosion and changing environmental conditions. Thanks to fiberglass reinforcement, the material retains structural rigidity with extremely low weight, allowing the user to comfortably carry the knife without additional weight. The surface features Bi-Directional Texturing, which is a special texture that aids grip in two axes – this solution effectively improves control of the knife even with a slippery hand. Gentle undercuts and profiling adapted to the size of the hand facilitate ergonomic handling of the blade. The back lock located in the upper part of the Handle allows efficient and secure locking of the blade while working. The lack of a clip and the symmetrical design allow you to carry the knife in your pocket or as a keychain, ensuring full accessibility and ambidextrousness.
