Signature Series – an elite line of Microtech products designed for buyers who are looking for a more exclusive touch to the much-loved Core Series production models (logo with claws on the knife). The highest quality materials and finishes are often used in the production of Signature Series knives. The line also includes themed knives such as Bounty Hunter, Memento Mori and Molon Labe. A distinctive feature is the marking with the dagger logo on the Handle and Anthony Marfione’s signature on the clip.
Borka Blades (Sebastijan Berenji) is a very popular creator of custom knives with a skill that attracts crowds of blade enthusiasts. Sebastijan was born and raised in Yugoslavia and became a US citizen in 2016. The company is named after his late mother, Borka. A few years after he began his career as a knifemaker, he designed a unique folding knife and generated a lot of interest among collectors and enthusiasts. He not only attracted attention, but also attracted the interest of Microtech Knives CEO Anthony Marfione, who offered him a partnership.
M390MK – a collaboration between Microtech and Böhler engineers resulted in an exclusive version of M390 steel made only for Microtech. The carbon content has been increased and subjected to closer scrutiny thus improving the properties of M390 steel to provide better edge retention, corrosion resistance and polishing. Martensitic high-performance chromium steel produced by powder metallurgy. Due to its alloy concept, it has extremely high wear resistance and high corrosion resistance. Due to its high wear resistance, it adequately maintains the shape of the edge, so the blade stays sharp for a very long time (requiring minimal maintenance). Another of the advantages is resistance to the formation of “wire” during sharpening. The steel has a high chromium content of 19.0% (Cr) doped with 1.95% carbon (C), vanadium 4.0% (V), and is hardened between 59-61 HRC. This super steel is comparable to Carpenter’s CPM 20CV or CTS-204P steels. Manufactured by Böhler Edelstahl in Kapfenberg, Austria.
Ram-Lok™ (Crossbar Lock) – a crossbar that moves horizontally in longitudinal cutouts in the steel side plates of the handle frame. When the knife is opened, the locking bar overlaps the back of the Blade from above, preventing its return movement. This element is pressed down by two springs. Unlocking is done by pulling the bar back; its ends are accessible through cutouts in the grips on both sides of the Handle grips. In the closed position, the bar presses against the cam surface at the back of the blade, preventing it from opening on its own. The advantages of the Ram-Lok lock are high resistance to contamination, practical insensitivity to dynamic loads, ease of operation with both right and left hands, and light, smooth operation of the mechanism.
Blade – wide, type S/E (Single Edge) Spear Point. Finished with Stonewashed method, which gives the blade a very smooth, elegantly matte surface, resistant to reflections and minor scratches. The gently curved cutting edge converges to a needle-sharp tip. The solid thickness of the blade, combined with a flat grind, provides great cutting properties while maintaining high durability. The long false blade on the back further enhances the already excellent material piercing properties. The knife is opened with a wide, oval-shaped hole in the blade (thumb hole). For full control of the blade in the lower part of the blade there is a finger choil large, serrated finger hole, and on the back of the blade there is an upper jimping, which is a notched support for the thumb. The whole is locked with a convenient Ram-Lok mechanism .
Handle – made with the utmost precision in 3D technology on CNC milling machines from durable titanium, finished with stonewashed method , which gives it an elegant matte look and resistance to minor scratches. For a better grip, the surface of the Handle has been covered with a distinctive texture imitating the surface of a fragmentation grenade(Frag Pattern). A wide locking slide with Microtech’s characteristic stepped structure(X Button) provides secure and comfortable operation. The two grips are connected by a solid titanium backspacer dyed blue, which increases the rigidity of the design. A double-sided (right/left) clip allows the knife to be carried discreetly in tip-up position. A protruding section of the backspacer with a rope hole can also serve as an improvised glass breaker. Hardware (screws, pivot, slider) finished with Double Vapor Blast.
