Uro Black G10, Black PVD is the result of a collaboration between Italian brand Fox Knives and Wander Tactical (Dino Picco), designed for everyday EDC use in field and tactical conditions. The design combines enhanced mechanical resistance, high-end materials and thoughtful ergonomics, ensuring durability and reliability regardless of the working environment. Blade is made of Niolox powder tool steel , offering very good performance – long-lasting sharpness retention, abrasion resistance and stability of operation even under heavy use. The black PVD protective coating reduces the visibility of wear marks and reduces light reflections. The drop point profile with a long belly and high grind provides cutting versatility and precision blade guidance for a variety of everyday tasks. Handle is made of durable G10 composite, valued for its resistance to moisture, temperature and mechanical damage. The ergonomic profiling of the handle, combined with the texture of the material, ensures a stable grip even in wet conditions or when wearing gloves. The design is reinforced with a solid G10 backspacer and equipped with a steel tip-up clip for discreet carrying. A liner lock ensures safety while working, and a bearing-operated opening system provides instant and smooth one-handed blade unfolding. Wander Tactical was founded in 2015 by two enthusiasts: Dino Picco, born in 1968 in Milan, and Alessandro “Alex” Bassi, born in 1979 in Lodi, near Milan. Dino, raised in an artistic environment, has gained recognition as a graphic designer and nature illustrator. His love of knives, developed since his youth, merged with his technical knowledge and design talent, leading to the creation of unique tools. Alex, with a background in science, is an expert in the field of survivalism, having attended numerous courses such as Urban Survival Attitude and Preparedness Skills. His experience in wilderness survival and passion for photography translated into the functionality and aesthetics of the designed knives. Together, combining Dino’s artistic and technical skills with Alex’s scientific approach and survivalist experience, they have created a brand known for high-quality knives that combine functionality with imonizing aesthetics
Niolox – tool steel with good edge holding and high strength. Hardened in the range 58-60 HRC. It is characterized by aggressive cutting and good impact strength. The name comes from the element niobium (Nb), one of the best carbides, which contributes to the steel’s wear resistance. Niolox contains 0.7% of it.Easy to sharpen with moderate corrosion resistance, it contains 12.7% chromium (Cr). Manufactured by German steelmaker Lohmann.
PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) – The resistance of the surface of the wedge and cutting edge is enhanced by a vacuum deposition method used to deposit thin films by condensing an evaporated form of the desired material onto the surface of the workpiece. The coating method involves a purely physical process such as high-temperature vacuum evaporation followed by condensation. The applied coating has a very high hardness which significantly increases the resistance of the blade to rust and abrasive wear.
Blade – with a drop point profile provides high utility versatility – from precision cutting to work requiring high control over the depth of cut. The Niolox steel used combines high abrasion resistance, long-term cutting edge stability and corrosion resistance, while maintaining relative ease of sharpening in field conditions. A hardness of 59-61 HRC ensures long blade life in everyday use. Blade surface is coated with black PVD protective coating . The knife is opened with a smoothly running flipper on bearings, which allows the blade to be unfolded instantly and safely with one hand. On the back there is a notched thumb rest (jimping), improving grip stability during precision work. The whole is locked with a solid liner lock mechanism , ensuring secure immobilization of the blade in the working position.
Handle – made of durable, moisture and mechanical damage resistant G10 composite . The distinct texture of the material, combined with anatomical profiling and finger indentations, provides a stable grip and precise control, even when working with gloves or in wet environments. Rounded edges increase handling comfort during prolonged use. In addition, a black G10 backspacer reinforces the design and increases its rigidity. At the end of the Handle there is a hole for a safety cable, allowing you to mount a paracord or lanyard. The whole is complemented by a solid steel clip, allowing the knife to be carried discreetly and securely in a pocket in tip-up position. Precise fit of the components and solidity of the construction make the FX-557 a functional, rugged folder for everyday and field EDC applications.
