Manix 2 Lightweight Sprint Run Brown FRCP, Stonewashed is one of the best-rated knives in the Spyderco range , combining innovative design with exceptional functionality. The Sprint Run version in Earth Brown color is a collector’s edition, equipped with a Blade made of CPM 15V tool steel, which provides extremely high abrasion resistance and excellent edge retention – features particularly desired by users working intensively with the knife. Thanks to the leaf shape blade profile, the model guarantees versatility and precision cutting, and the classic opening with the Spyderco Round Hole allows one-handed operation.Stonewashed finish gives the whole thing a matte, utilitarian look and does a good job of masking minor scratches from everyday use. Handle made of ultralight FRCP composite provides stiffness and resistance at very low weight, making this model ideal for EDC. The structure of the grips with Bi-Directional Texturing™ increases grip confidence even in harsh conditions. CPM 15V – the most vanadium-containing 14.50% (V), wear-resistant stainless tool steel with 5.25% chromium (Cr), 3.40% carbon (C) and 1.30% molybdenum (Mo). Its high vanadium content (it contains 50% more hard vanadium carbides in its microstructure than CPM 10V) promotes the formation of hard vanadium carbides for strength and exceptional wear resistance, and increases corrosion resistance. This unique steel is designed for the production of high-grade blades requiring exceptional toughness and knife wedges where longer life is desired. Produced by US Crucible Industries using the particle metallurgy / Crucible® Particle Metallurgy(CPM) method. The CPM process creates a very homogeneous, high-quality steel with excellent dimensional stability, grindability and ductility compared to steels produced by conventional methods.
Ball Bearing-Lock, one of the strongest blade locking mechanisms. Hardened ball bearing housed in a black polymer cage in the open position pressed against the blade by a spring. Made in USA.
Blade – Leaf-Shapedtype (leaf shape), thickness 3.2 mm. Non-reflective Satin Finish (semi-matte) coating. Plain blade was derived with Full Flat Grind, which gives excellent cutting edge geometry and extreme cutting performance. Blade was subjected to a specialized heat treatment protocol which was developed by the well-known American knifemaker, Shawn Houston. The result is a blade that offers extreme sharpness and unparalleled edge durability. The SpyderHole round cutout (a Spyderco patent) makes it possible to open the knife with a glove as well. Prominent Finger Choil – an arched undercut for the index finger and a notched thumb ramp on the back of the Blade increase control of the knife.
Handle – in brown color, reserved for knives made of CPM 15V steel. Made of lightweight FRCP (Fiberglass Reinforced Co-Polymer), it features bi-directional non-slip grips (Bi-Directional Texturing) for grip in all conditions (including greasy, wet hands). A screw-on wire clip (left/right) allows you to carry the knife in tip-up (tip up) position. A notch on the back of the Spine Jimping Handle makes it easier to grip. In the back of the Handle a lanyard hole, an enlarged hole for a cord.
