CPM S45VN – an American martensitic high-alloy stainless steel with a hardness of 59-61 HRC, one of the best blade steels. Designed to provide better strength compared to CPM S30V, while keeping corrosion resistance at the highest level. Produced by US Crucible Industries using the particle metallurgy / Crucible® Particle Metallurgy(CPM) method. The CPM process creates a very homogeneous, high-quality steel with excellent dimensional stability, grindability and ductility compared to steels produced by conventional methods. The chemical composition has been balanced so that it is composed of 0.5% niobium carbides (Nb) along with 3.0% vanadium (V) and 14.0%chromium (Cr) carbides. The improved strength of CPM S45VN also provides better resistance to edge chipping.
The Vulcan finish is a striking heat-treatment of the Blade, which gives the steel unique multicolored patterns and makes each piece unique. The colors and stain pattern are created naturally during a controlled oxidation process, making the Blade not only a tool, but also a collector’s item.
Blade – drop point type , made of high-quality CPM S45VN steel , known for its excellent corrosion resistance, cutting edge stability and ability to maintain sharpness for a long time. The Vulcan finish process gives each blade a unique color pattern obtained through controlled heating of the steel. Thanks to the hollow grind, the blade offers very good cutting properties while maintaining adequate strength in the tip zone. The flipper is responsible for quick opening of the Blade, and the milling on the back(jimping) improves control in precise cuts. The whole is supported by a strong pivot, which increases the smoothness of operation and mechanical resistance.
Handle – a combination of titanium and G10 composite inlays, which provides both high mechanical resistance and improved grip in the hand. The texture of G10 improves the control of the tool in difficult conditions, and its low weight has a positive effect on the balance of the entire structure. The entire design has been fused together with flame-dyed screws, which harmonize with the titanium clip with a blue-purple finish. The deep carry clip allows the knife to be carried discreetly and securely. The Handle was designed for users expecting maximum functionality and aesthetics at the highest level.
