The Ciol Brown Canvas Micarta, Stonewashed was created in collaboration with Italian designer Denis Simonutti and is a thoughtful combination of classic design and the functionality of an everyday utility knife. Designed with simplicity, durability and comfort in mind, it will perform well in both urban and light outdoor environments. Blade is made of 440C stainless steel , known for its good sharpness retention and high corrosion resistance. Thanks to the stonewashed finish, the blade retains its aesthetic appearance for a long time, effectively masking scratches and signs of use. The blade design strikes a balance between cutting precision and the ability to work with a variety of materials. The Canvas Micarta Handle offers a stable grip in all conditions, even with wet hands. The natural texture of the material enhances grip, while the slim profile of the handle promotes ergonomics for prolonged use. Steel liner-based construction reinforces the whole, increasing mechanical resistance. The slip joint mechanism and nail nick opening allows the knife to be carried in most restricted countries. The BF-748 is an example of a successful combination of aesthetics, durability and utility – an everyday tool that remains reliable and comfortable in any situation.
440C – a high-carbon (min. 0.95%) martensitic alloy stainless steel of 57-59 HRC hardness with impressively high strength and corrosion resistance, containing min. 16% chromium. The high carbon content results in the formation of chromium carbide compounds, providing wear resistance and edge retention after hardening. Due to its high hardness, the steel is suitable for the manufacture of cutting tools knife blades and scissors, as well as medical tools.
Blade – designed in a classic drop point profile , providing versatility of cuts and good blade control in everyday use. Its gently curved cutting line facilitates both precise and dynamic cuts. The 440C steel used combines corrosion resistance with good durability of the working edge, while allowing for relatively easy sharpening – making it an ideal choice for everyday knives. The flat grind (flat grind) improves cutting smoothness and minimizes resistance when working with a variety of materials. The stonewashed finish gives the blade a subdued, utilitarian feel and effectively masks micro-scratches and signs of use. The slip joint mechanism and nail nick opening allows the knife to be carried in most restricted countries. Handle – made of Canvas Micarta, a material formed from layers of fabric soaked in epoxy resin, which provides high resistance to abrasion, moisture and changing weather conditions. The distinctive surface texture increases grip, guaranteeing a firm grip even in harsh conditions. Ergonomic profiling and fine milling adapt the handle to the natural position of the hand, reducing fatigue during work. Internal steel liners reinforce the design and give it stability, which is crucial for the folder’s service life. Additional elements, such as a leather carrying case and a hole for a safety cable, increase the functionality of the knife in everyday use. The whole is based on Torx screws, which facilitates maintenance and personalization of the tool. The Handle of the Ciol model is an example of a well-thought-out, utilitarian EDC design – durable, comfortable and refined in detail.
